How to Monetize Pinterest (Without Being a Designer or a DIY Blogger)
Most people use Pinterest like a digital fridge door:
- save a bunch of ideas
- forget about them
- repeat next week
But Pinterest can also be a quiet traffic and money machine that sends people to:
- your BrickedShipHouse store
- your blog posts
- your Resources page (Amazon + tools)
- and your playbooks and digital offers
And here’s the wild part:
Pins don’t die fast like Reels or TikToks. One good pin can send clicks for months or even years.
In this post, I’ll show you a simple way to start monetizing Pinterest using:
- my Shopify store (BrickedShipHouse – the Catalog)
- my Resources page (the gear/tools I actually use)
- and a Pinterest Monetization Playbook for people who want the full step-by-step version
You don’t need to be a designer. You just need a clear niche, decent-looking pins, and a plan.
Pinterest Is Not a Social Media App (And That’s Good for You)
This is the first mindset shift:
Pinterest is less “social media” and more search engine.
People go to Pinterest to:
- search “side hustle ideas”
- search “how to sell on [platform]”
- search “home gym setup”, “garage organization”, “gear for X”
- search for checklists, templates, and tutorials
They’re already looking for:
- ideas
- solutions
- products
- tools
That’s exactly what you have:
- physical products in your Catalog
- tools and Amazon finds on your Resources page
- and content / guides that help people take action
If you want to see the kind of stuff I use and recommend, I’ve got it all on my Resources page:
👉 Resources
Step 1 – Set Up Pinterest the Right Way (So It Can Actually Feed Your Stuff)
Before you think about pin designs, make sure Pinterest knows who you are and what you’re about.
1.1 Create or convert to a business account
If you’re serious about monetizing:
- Use a business Pinterest account (or convert your existing one).
- That gives you:
- analytics
- better control of branding
- access to rich pins and more features
1.2 Profile basics
-
Profile name: include your brand + keyword, something like:
- “BrickedShipHouse | Gear, Side Hustles & Socials”
- Bio: explain what people get from following you:
“Reselling, side hustles & real money experiments. Tools, gear & playbooks to help you monetize your socials.”
- Profile picture: your logo or a clean headshot.
1.3 Claim your website
Important:
- Claim
brickedshiphouse.comin your Pinterest settings. - This connects your pins and your site, which:
- strengthens your brand
- helps Pinterest trust you more
- lets you see which pins drive traffic
Once this is done, you’re ready for the fun part: boards and pins that lead to money.
Step 2 – Decide What You Want Pinterest to Pay You For
Pinterest doesn’t magically pay you. It sends traffic. You choose where that traffic lands.
Here are your main money paths:
Option 1 – Your BrickedShipHouse Catalog (physical products)
Use Pinterest to send people to:
- product pages
- collections
- featured items
Think boards like:
- “Garage & Shop Essentials”
- “Tools & Gear I Actually Use”
- “Side Hustle Setup Ideas”
Each pin links back to:
Option 2 – Your blog posts
Your “How to Monetize Facebook/Instagram/Pinterest” style posts are perfect for Pinterest.
- Make pins that say:
- “How to Monetize Facebook”
- “How to Monetize Instagram”
- “How to Monetize Pinterest”
- Link each pin directly to the matching blog post.
Those posts then:
- teach
- build trust
- send people to:
- your Catalog
- your Resources page
- your playbooks
Option 3 – Your Resources page (Amazon + tools)
Pins like:
- “Tools I Use for Reselling & Side Hustles”
- “Content Creation Setup Checklist”
- “Amazon Finds That Actually Make Me Money”
All link to your Resources page, which then links out with your affiliate links.
Option 4 – Your Pinterest Monetization Playbook (and other guides)
You can also pin:
- “Pinterest Monetization Playbook (Free/Low-Cost Guide)”
- “Monetize Your Socials – Platform Playbooks”
Those pins can:
- go to an opt-in page for the playbook
- or to a landing page where people can grab/buy it
For now:
Pick one main goal for Pinterest:
“For the next 30 days, most of my pins will send people to _______.”
That could be:
- your Catalog
- your blog posts
- your Resources page
- or your Pinterest Monetization Playbook
You can add more later, but give Pinterest a clear signal up front.
Step 3 – Build Boards That Match What You Want to Rank For
Boards are like shelves in your store. If they’re chaotic, people bounce.
3.1 Create boards around your real topics
Example boards you could use:
- “Monetize Your Socials (Tips & Playbooks)”
- “Side Hustle Ideas & Setups”
- “Reselling & Flipping Tips”
- “Tools & Gear I Actually Use”
- “Facebook & Instagram Monetization”
- “Pinterest Traffic & SEO Tips”
For each board:
- Write a simple description that says:
- what kind of pins go there
- what people can expect
- a few keywords like “side hustle”, “monetize social media”, “reseller tools”, etc.
3.2 Think in keywords
Ask yourself:
- “What would my ideal person type into Pinterest when they’re looking for this?”
- Example searches:
- “how to monetize Pinterest”
- “side hustle ideas 2025”
- “[niche] tools for beginners”
- “how to start reselling”
- “social media monetization tips”
Use those kinds of phrases in:
- your board titles
- your board descriptions
- your pin titles and descriptions
Pinterest reads that stuff.
Step 4 – Create Pins That Actually Get Clicked (Not Just Saved)
You don’t need to be a designer. But your pins should:
- be clear (text easy to read)
- show a benefit or result
- make people want to click
4.1 Basic pin structure
For a blog or playbook:
- Image:
- simple background
- maybe a small screenshot of your site or a relevant photo
-
Text line:
- “How to Monetize Pinterest”
- “Monetize Your Instagram in 30 Days”
- “Tools I Use to Make My Side Hustles Easier”
For a product or collection:
- Image:
- product photo or a simple lifestyle shot
- Text line (optional):
- “Garage Setup Essentials”
- “Tools That Make Flips Easier”
4.2 Pin descriptions
In your pin description:
- summarize what they’ll get on the page
- use a couple of keywords naturally
- add a simple call to action:
“Click to read the full guide and see my recommended tools.”
“Click to shop the full collection.”
“Click to get the checklist and playbook.”
4.3 Link every pin to somewhere that matters
No dead ends.
- Blog pins → blog posts
- Product pins → product / collection pages
- Tool pins → Resources page
- Playbook pins → playbook landing or blog
Step 5 – A Simple 30-Day Pinterest Monetization Plan
Let’s keep this realistic AND effective.
Week 1 – Foundation & first pins
- Convert to business account / confirm it’s set.
- Claim your website.
- Set up 3–5 solid boards with strong names + descriptions.
- Create 5–10 pins:
- a couple for your blog post(s)
- a couple for your Resources page
- a couple for a product/collection
Week 2 – Consistency + testing
- Aim for 1–2 new pins per day (you can schedule them).
- Try a few different designs/headlines for the same URL.
- Link pins to:
- your “How to Monetize Facebook/Instagram/Pinterest” blogs
- your Resources page
- your Catalog (if relevant to the board)
Week 3 – Double down on winners
- Check analytics:
- which pins are getting impressions and clicks?
- Make more pins like those, pointing to:
- the same URLs
- similar topics
- Create 1–2 pins for your Pinterest Monetization Playbook specifically.
Week 4 – Connect your whole ecosystem
- Make sure you have pins that lead to:
- store (Catalog)
- Resources page
- “Monetize Your Socials” blogs
- Pinterest Playbook
- Consider a (later) automation:
- new blog post → always create 3–5 pins for it
- new product/collection → create 2–3 pins for it
Step 6 – Where the Money Actually Comes From
Pinterest is the traffic. You make money when people hit the right pages.
1. Your BrickedShipHouse Store (Catalog)
Use Pinterest to send people to:
- your best-selling items
- category pages that match what people search for
- seasonal or themed collections
2. Your Blog Posts
Every “How to Monetize [Platform]” post can be:
- turned into multiple pins
- shared as a “mini tutorial” on Pinterest
Those posts then send people to:
- your Resources page
- your platform playbooks
- your store
3. Your Resources Page (Amazon & Tools)
This is your gear & tools hub.
- Create pins about:
- your content setup
- reselling tools
- favorite finds
- Link them to your Resources page, where all your Amazon/affiliate links live.
4. Your Pinterest Monetization Playbook
The blog you’re reading right now is the overview.
The playbook is the printer-friendly, step-by-step version.
It takes everything here and turns it into:
- a checklist
- a board + pin plan
- weekly actions for 30 days
- spots to plug in your own links (store, blog, resources, etc.)

Final Thoughts
Pinterest is one of those platforms that feels slow at first… and then one day you check your analytics and realize that pins you forgot about are still sending people to your stuff.
If you’re already putting time into:
- your store
- your Resources page
- your “Monetize Your Socials” content
…you might as well have a few pins out there working for you in the background.
Start simple:
- Set up your profile and boards the right way.
- Pick ONE main money path for your pins.
- Create pins that clearly show the benefit and invite clicks.
- Stick with it for 30 days and watch what starts to move.
And if you want the exact system laid out step-by-step, you can grab the Pinterest Monetization Playbook and treat it like your 30-day action plan:
